This work offers a CT atlas of the trunk with 700 images but also precisions, thanks to another 300 others, about formations or structures often neglected as are the interparieto-peritoneal spaces, or else, the representation of seriated sections of the diaphragm or the psoas major muscles. The trunk is studied through 103 section levels; 335 files on normal or pathological CT have been selected. For each level set by scout view, an interpreted anatomical section is compared with 5 (sometimes 17) CT scans. The normal often explains what the pathologic proves. Some particular problems raised by the tomodensitometrical interpretation led the authors to develop ten special chapters; supported by images, which constitute an addendum to the atlas.
Composition of chapters and presentation of diagrams have been concerned with the arm of a programmed teaching, in order to compel the user to minimum personal efforts. Owing to several indexes, a real iconography track game lets the reader check his knowledge. The richness of personal documents as well as the contribution that the authors bring to the knowledge of the human body, will do the physician and the surgeon unvaluable services.
